I was sat in my truck, trying (unsuccessfully !) to photograph a goldfinch flying in and out of a bush to it's nest. Each shot was spoiled by branches in the way, too much speed blur or some other problem. I was about to give up and look for another shot for today, when I noticed a little green spot land on my windscreen. I switched to super macro and moved in for a closer look, hey presto a shot for today.
Although the windscreen looks filthy, I had only cleaned it 20 minutes before so I could shoot the goldfinch. The specks are actually imperfections in the glass which are normally invisible. This chap is pretty small and the top edge of my lens is actually resting on the glass, so even minute faults in the glass become obvious.
Comments and opinions are always of interest. Thanks.
