The Kick

Wynema Ranch, CA

More rescued Virginia Range horses, living the wild life on 600 acres. The roan on the left is
fighting to keep the mares, foal and colt he stole a few days before from the stallion aiming for
his head. Later that day, I noticed that one of the mares and foal had returned to the stallion.
(Still playing with this high key style. Interest to know what you think.)

Superb timing with the shot, and the high key adds such great effect. V

Sort of combines the look of charcoal and water color. Works very nicely with these action shots. Voted.

Amazing action shot, Sandi. I'll offer a dissenting opinion on the processing. To me, the high key treatment give a kind of romantic flair to the image, which conflicts with the content (violent fight). So, unless that kind of conflict between style and content was your intent, I might experiment with other post-processing ideas for this image.

that has to hurt big time...the high key works to isolate the main subjects, yet removes details of the setting...for moments like this one that seems very effective..
