The Aviation Heritage Museum is at Omaka Airfield near Blenheim in Marlborough, New Zealand and, save for the World War Two Hawker Hurricane which stands as gate guard, the museum comprises a collection of replica World War One aircraft and associated artefacts.
Although a variety of allied aircraft are on display, there is some emphasis on the Fokker Dr 1, or triplane, which was flown by the German ace Manfred Von Richthofen and in which he met his death at the hands of Australian troops. An impressive central display and diorama records that event and shows the troops stripping the downed aircraft for souvenirs.
The light levels in the Museum are low and all the pictures were taken hand held using relatively long exposures. Hence the movement evident in some.
