Quokka

Rottnest Island, Western Australia

This strange creature is very restricted in its range in Australia, found only in WA and some islands off of the coast of there. The stronghold and the best place to see it is undoubtedly Rottnest Island, off of the city of Perth. The island was wrongly named Rottenest by early Dutch explorers who thought these marsupials were giant rats, and thus named it as this which means Rat's Nest!
