A bumper year for Nashville Warbler that grossed their biggest numbers (in terms of local banded data) ever in the area in spring 2011, (pers. comm. from the "encyclopedia of bird migration knowledge" in the region, Mark Shieldcastle of Black Swamp Bird Observatory. Normally a canopy warbler that requires the use of the West Tower to get eye level photos. However, in spring 2011 several birds came down to near ground level, bringing with them a myriad of photo opportunities! It is not often you get to see the "mythical" rust-colored crown stripe.
