If you are interested in learning about wildlife photography then Adam Turow is THE perfect teacher for any skill level. In just one lesson, he taught me how to more effectively use my camera, and where to find beautiful subjects in the wild. I walked away with incredible close-up images of a red-winged blackbird feeding her chicks, blue dasher dragonflies and various other frame-worthy shots. Adam is a patient and passionate teacher who is an expert in this field — the perfect combination.

I highly recommend taking lessons with Adam! I have already taken four classes and plan on continuing with him. He is an excellent teacher and extremely knowledgable. He is very friendly, makes learning fun and interesting and more than willing to help and answer any questions. He breaks down each concept and makes it easy to understand.

I have taken week long photography classes through work but have learned more in just the first lesson with Adam than that entire week! His lessons are definitely well worth it. He has made learning photography fun and has given me the confidence to take great photos!

This was by far the best photography class I have ever taken. It was well worth the time and money invested. I learned more in a few sessions with Adam on how to turn my work into salable art than I have in 20 years taking pictures on my own. The results were quick to show themselves and immediately implemented. I highly recommend Adam to all levels of photographers.

I recently took Adam's course "The Art of Seeing" on location in Jockey Hollow, and I just cannot express how thrilled I was with the experience. I learned how to compose the scene in a much more artistic manner, as well as functionality on my camera that I thought I knew, but really did not! It made my focus and depth of field so much better vs. what I thought was acceptable. Adam is very patient, and really enjoys watching the "a-ha" moments as we moved about our time together. I took the two hour Mastering Your Digital Camera 1 lesson with Adam Turow at Jockey Hollow and I would definitely recommend it. Adam was able to explain how to use the features and settings on my camera better than my college professor did and explained it in a way that really made sense. The personalized one-on-one lesson allowed me to ask as many questions as I needed. I would advise anyone who wants to learn more about their digital camera and taking pictures to sign up for this course.

I recently took a one on one beginning course (MYDSLR1) with Adam to learn about the professional settings on my Canon DSLR camera. I was able to learn so much about my camera I never knew. Adam is an amazing teacher and is able to explain things to you in a way anyone can understand. I felt very comfortable with the pace of the course and was able to ask many questions. Wow! I’m so happy I found Adam to teach me about photography! I’ve just completed my 3rd session. The 1st was learning to use my DSLR camera, the second was editing photos, and the 3rd was on photo composition. I’ve learned more about photography in 8 hours with Adam than I did taking other photography courses or by reading books. The time I’ve spent with Adam has helped me to better enjoy my hobby. Adam is a fantastic teacher and photographer. He is a master of his art and is able to communicate the intricacies of the craft of digital photography. Adam's course was well developed, very interesting and highly informative even for an intermediate level photographer like myself. I signed up for the half day field workshop. I took Adam's Mastering Your DSLR Camera I and II. While I had a basic understanding of photography, Adam taught me how to be more productive using settings other than just "Auto." I have taken photography courses in the past, but none featured the art of composition like Adam's. In just a few hours I had more confidence in my technical ability and was able to see photographic opportunities with a different perspective. I purchased a DSLR for my upcoming African Safari, and I was only using it on the automatic settings. I signed up for the Mastering your DSLR course with Adam, and I’m so happy I did. For months, I ignored many of the buttons on my camera; now not only do I know what the buttons do, I can actually use them!! Adam taught me how to really focus the shot, set the white balance, read a histogram, select the ISO, aperture, shutter speed, and picture style to enhance the photo- I mean it’s incredible how much Adam taught me in just a few hours! You should see me now- I can adjust all the technical settings on my own- I feel like a pro! Adam is a wonderful teacher, and he explains everything in simple terms so that you can actually understand it. I’m signing up for the next course, and I can’t wait to find out more of Adam’s tips and tricks for capturing a great shot. Thanks, Adam!

I took Adam's Mastering Your DSLR outdoor field workshop at Morristown National Historical Park. I recently purchased my first DSLR camera, and after a few photography classes somewhere else, I still felt intimidated by my camera and did not really feel comfortable with manual photography. Adam's class was the best photography class I have ever taken, by far. I learned so much in 2 hours, and I now feel much more confident about using my camera. Adam taught me about manual photography and composition in a way that was simple and easy to understand. I now feel much more comfortable using my camera, and I am excited to go out and practice what Adam taught me. I definitely plan on signing up for another of Adam's classes in the future!

To be able to fill in the gaps of my knowledge without having to progress through a structured course was very valuable. I had the pleasure of taking 3 photography lessons prior to a trip of a lifetime to Australia. Adam is so knowledgeable on all aspects of photography and was very able to communicate to a lay person in language that was very understanding. His ability to express the intricacies of digital photography not to mention all the components of my new camera so that I was able to utilize the most important and useful settings. Spending time with him in both a classroom environment in addition to a session outside in a historic park in Morristown made everything come together and was so useful. My trip was sensational and after taking over 850 pictures, I was able to narrow my album to about 330 pictures, with some of quality that even surprised myself.

My sessions with Adam were so interesting and educational and I recommend this experience to anyone wanting to increase their knowledge and techniques in digital photography.

I first took a workshop with Adam last year, with a friend who highly recommended him. I was impressed with his knowledge, enthusiasm, and most importantly, his ability to explain things in a way I understood. Many instructors know their material, but do not teach well – that is not the case with Adam. Then, recently I had a one-to-one session, and was very pleased with the instruction. Throughout the session we focused on my main topics of ‘seeing’, and composition, but of course there was much discussion on related subjects, all of which I found very helpful - I learned much more than I expected to. I am looking forward to scheduling more one on one sessions with Adam this year.

I took up photography, on old interest, again after I retired. My half-day lesson yesterday with Adam was a wonderful learning experience, helping me improve both technique and composition. He was very responsive to the goals I discussed with him at the beginning of the session; I learned much more than I imagined I would. I expect my results will improve a great deal over the next weeks and months. Adam was very honest and open about what he liked and did not like about the sample photos I brought along, and I found that most helpful. I enjoyed the experience immensely. I am currently enrolled in an arts school’s ten week photography class that's almost over. However, the two private sessions totaling four hours that I have had with Adam have taught me far more than all the classes combined at the school. Photography is my hobby. I was doing it without any real knowledge or professional help and struggling with many issues. I found Adam and it was a great experience to work with him. In the first meeting, I connected with him immediately which helped in conversation and understanding all the material presented. Taking a private lesson with Adam was truly an awesome experience. It was well worth my time and tuition. I'm deeply involved in my school's photography club. I have previously taken photography classes at school so I wasn't sure what new things I would learn from Adam's "Mastering Your DSLR Course." After completing the course, I can honestly say I learned more in our three hour session than I have in the past three photography classes at school. Hands down the best time and money I've spent since I received my camera last year. Working with Adam opened up my mind and eyes in several key areas. First, to have at least a functional knowledge of the various menus and choices (which are plentiful) on this amazing device is liberating. Second, and even more importantly, Adam wasn't merely reciting a rote litany of menu choices and where to find them, but putting the choices and their usage into the context of why something is used and what effects it could have on the captured image. He also took the time to ensure that I was understanding what we covered. Finally, though we ran over our time a bit, he made certain that I had the opportunity to put some of these ideas into practice by shooting photos and making adjustments for comparison. It's one hing to hear something and another to see its application at work. I highly recommend Adam as a teacher. I look forward to taking the next class with him.

My 11 year old son has been working with Adam for the last two years. They take field trips together and explore local interesting spots. Adam is absolutely a wonderful teacher. He relates well to my son and motivates him to do his best. Adam explains technical material in an easy to understand manner and is willing to go the extra step to make sure my son completely understands the material. It also helps that Adam has unlimited patience given the short attention span of young kids. We are also grateful for his flexibility in schedule that allows for us to attend to after school activities without missing out on photo shoots. Taking Mastering Your Digital SLR was the best investment I could have made after purchasing my first digital SLR camera. Although I always felt comfortable with my old digital point and shoot, I found my new digital SLR to be very intimidating and my photographs were really suffering. I went into the private lesson hoping to just learn how to use the different automatic settings, but I left feeling confident about using the manual ones. Using the manual functions was something that I never thought I would be able to do without hours and weeks worth of lessons. Now I am exclusively using those functions! Adam is so knowledgeable, patient and kind. My photographs are coming out great and I hope to take another lesson in the very near future.

It's been an excellent experience learning photography from Adam. A complex subject taught in a very thorough yet easy to understand manner. All those buttons on the camera make a lot of sense after completing "Mastering Your Digital Camera" parts 1 and 2. The lessons covered a broad range of topics including the technical as well as the artistic aspects of digital photography. I believe all levels of of photographers - beginners, advanced amateurs and even semi-professionals would benefit from these courses. As a person, Adam is very down to earth and an excellent teacher. I highly recommend Adam to anyone interested in improving their photography.

I recently purchased a new Digital SLR camera and I wanted to learn how to use it since I was a novice to photography. Luckily I found Adam’s website while doing some Google searches for photography courses. After reading Adam’s experience, viewing his incredible images and reading many testimonials I decided to take Adam’s workshop ‘Mastering Your Digital SLR’. This workshop was excellent; Adam is a great teacher and really helped me understand my camera and how to properly use it. While so much information can be overwhelming to a beginner Adam made things very simple to understand and provided great examples, as well as notes he provides you to take with you. I was so happy with Adam’s first workshop I decided to take the outdoor workshop. I loved this workshop, it was great. I was able to take what I had learned in the first workshop and apply that to the photographs I was taking. Adam is so enthusiastic, eager to teach and extremely knowledgeable it really is a pleasure to learn from him. I can’t wait to take another outdoor workshop with him. I would highly recommend Adam. You were so easy to work with. I began the workshop thinking I had forgotten all the basics you taught me in my first session. A quick review and some great ideas from you and I began taking photographs that wowed me. You were so patient, and answered all my questions. You knew what mistakes were common and made sure I went away from your workshop with the solutions. I recently had the pleasure of not only meeting Adam Turow, but working with him one-on-one. My husband and I took Adam's field workshop after owning our SLR camera for over 2 years. The workshop opened our eyes to all the functions that we were neglecting to use. Adam's course has allowed us to capture much brighter, sharper and artistic photos. His explanations are very clear and easy to understand. We took a 4 hour course, which I highly recommend because it gives you time to review the mechanics of the camera as well as how to look for a good shot. We just wanted to take the time to say THANK YOU for your amazing Photography Workshop.

For our 5th Anniversary I knew I wanted to do something special that the both of us enjoy. My husband and I both love our camera and love to take pictures. But we also knew we were not using our camera to our full potential. As you said, it was basically an expensive point and shoot. So we set forth on finding out how to improve our skills and learn more about our camera. After doing research on classes and places, we found a link to your site and I knew that this was exactly the right match and it was!!!!

The course was fantastic. You were so generous with your time and knowledge. We learned so much about how to use our camera to the fullest potential and even better we learned how to be thoughtful behind our pictures. Now we automatically think twice before every photo and think about what we did and how we can improve it after as well. We joke with each other about who has the better photo and if Adam would be proud. The setting was IDEAL and the one on one feedback was critical in walking away with feeling like we were given the attention that we needed.

I have found Adam Turow's instructional digital photography class to be an outstanding opportunity to discover how a DLSR works and more. I am really happy with my photography lessons with Adam. First of all, the classes are small enough that I can ask a zillion questions & have them answered in detail completely, which is like gold because I find with most other classes there's a time constraint and so only a limited number of questions get answered. But in Adam's classes, you can get the answers to every question accompanied by demonstrations, charts, photos as examples, etc. Because of this, I am getting a much more comprehensive understanding of the most minute details of photography. Secondly, Adam's degree of patience is amazing; there are some concepts that are difficult to pick up quickly, and he will spend the time explaining over & again, and in different ways until you get it. This is so valuable because most instructors will only explain something once or twice, then tell you to go over it at home but Adam takes the time to make sure you really understand before moving on. Third, after teaching a concept he shows specific photos that we dissect in minute detail so that we can actually see/visualize how the lesson applies. I am really enjoying learning photography now & after I finish the class lessons, I'm going to take the field workshops. If you're looking for a photography teacher with an easy, likable personality, unlimited patience & who really knows photography, then you should definitely try Adam.

I really enjoyed the fact that I could schedule it on an impromptu basis to fit in my busy schedule, without having to sign up for a 10 week course. I took my camera out with me today, and had a new understanding of how to create exactly what I wanted.

When I decided to learn photography by tutoring instead of going to photography school, I had a difficult time finding the right instructor as there are lots of teachers around. I am so fortunate that I was able to find you even though I needed to drive one hour to get to your location. As it turned out, it was the best thing I ever did. Your knowledge and passion for photography, along with your teaching skills enabled me to get what I needed and more in a very short time. Now, I'm anxious to market my photography as I learned from you in our last session on marketing. I 'm also looking forward to joining you for your outdoor photography workshop in the spring.

Without Adam's classes I would still be taking snapshots and not photographs. I have attended 3 of Adam's classes now, beginning with "Mastering Your DSLR" in the spring of '08. If you have a DSLR and are still taking snapshots, run to this class. Before that first class I had the camera on Auto mode all the time and let my camera take pictues for me, since the class I have never had it back in auto mode, I control the camera and the shot , the camera now captures what I want it to.The other classes I have taken are classes on exposure and composition.

Adam is an excellent teacher who really takes the time to ensure you are learning and having fun. Adam also takes a personal interest in seeing you improve your photography.

I will continue to take classes from Adam because of the above and because after I leave his class all I can think about is going out and putting my new skills to use. Thanks Adam! - Scott

Adam is a superb teacher. He not only is expert in his field but is very adept at conveying all the necessary information and techniques to his students in a clear and concise manner. He is also very sensitive to the different levels of accomplishment of each and every student in the class.

I would like to thank you for the instruction you provided and for the wonderful day spent photographing at the Great Swamp National Wildlife Refuge. I learned more from you in a few hours than I could ever have reading books and working on my own. You saved me countless hours of time and and a lot of unnecessary frustration.

My Digital SLR manual finally makes sense. After Taking Adam Turow's "Mastering your Digital SLR Camera Class" , was an AH HA moment for me of " That's what the manual was TRYING to explain. Adam is extremely knowledgeable and talented. He explains what's important to know in an understandable fashion. He uses his own photography showing demonstrations of what certain settings do and why they work.
I am eagerly looking forward to taking my next class with Adam Turow!

I just wanted to touch base with you and let you know that I truly enjoyed your class this past Tuesday. It is exactly what I needed to get my feet turned in the right direction.
It really helps when you visualize a photo and then are told how that photo was taken, books can't do that as well as a teacher. And you for one are quite a teacher, you are very motivating, enthusiastic and very well spoken.
I'm looking forward to reading your blog and again, thank you for being so enthusiastic and informative.

I knew nothing about digital photography before attending Adam's class. Adam taught a very comprehensive and challenging course. I purchased a camera based on Adam's recommendation and have mastered many of its features. I appreciate Adam's enthusiasm for outdoor photography-it's very contagious. Thank you so much.

Great course for both the beginner and intermediate level photographer! Adam's background and experience qualifies him as an expert instructor. The field trip was very beneficial in observing and practicing how to compose good photos but more importantly, was seeing how a professional sets up his equipment and takes a publishable quality photograph.

Adam is an outstanding teacher. He understands and implements strategies which allow for the learning of technical material in a fun, relaxed, yet highly effective manner. As a teacher for the last 35 years myself and having just completed one of Adam's photography courses, I highly recommend Adam as an instructor. You'll improve your skills and have fun doing it.

Adam's photography course is well developed and worth the time and expense. Adam presents an excellent mix of
theory and practical applications. The level of presentation of his nature photography was impressive and inspirational.

Just a note to say thanks once again for a really great class. I am glad I took the class twice, it helped me better understand a lot of the technical issues involved in producing high quality photographs. I' m looking forward to scheduling a field trip with you, and I am seriously considering the Yellowstone workshop as well.
