Frisco 4500

Here are some pics of SLSF 4500. The big locomotive used to sit at the Tulsa Zoo on display after being donated to the city after it's retirement from the Frisco. It was moved from the Zoo to Owasso back in the 1980's after the zoo wanted the space vacated. In October 2004, it was moved from Owasso to Tulsa to be repainted by a dedicated group from the Tulsa Townwest Sertoma club.

Fast forward to 2010 and the freshly repainted locomotive was moved again to a refinery in West Tulsa for short term storage.

It has now been moved to a special display space in West Tulsa along Route 66 for all to enjoy.

So glad the 4500 is being restored. I remember it being at the zoo and didn't know what had happened to it. I will be taking my grandchildren to see it very soon.

i dont know where 4500 is but her sister 4501 is in fair park, Dallas but you better hury to see here cuz the museum will be moving to frisco in early 2011. And btw is 4500, or any of here sisters, operatianal?

It looks great... I remember being there when she was moved from the zoo!!! That was nerve racking. It will be great to see it in it's new spot.... hopefully keep the
vadals off here.

That Frisco 4-8-4 was a beautiful locomotive. Is it still around in a museum somewhere???
