The New Niche

New Film Work

Film 2009. Will be a slow process. The medium that everyone
once used has now become a niche. I started out on film, and
film takes time for me, it's a labor of love. Will include new
and never before posted film shots, and only film shots here.

still got my film cameras...nikon and hassie system. but haven't touched it since going digi five years ago now. got a whole bag of film under my table...all outdated. don't know why i don't just throw it out. if i shot film again, i would make sure i got a good film scanner. i can't imagine working in a darkroom again.

What a beautiful gallery and great dedication. It is honestly because of you, DEHL, Bosco, Ann LT, Korax, emmanuel_fr, Colin Clark and others that I have been inspired to keep using film as well as digital. It may be a niche, but it is a great place to be and there are some wonderful photographers out there still using film. Thanks for the inspiration and great work on this gallery!

I think the difference between film and digital, is like comparing properly brewed coffee (film) and instant coffee (digital). Most people just want a quick fix, while others take time and savour the flavour. Film didn't make paintings obsolete and digital won't make film obsolete, but yes the mass market always moves for the smallest, quickest, and most convenient. So film is now for the true artist especially the larger than 35mm formats. I'm hoping to photograph with medium and large formats some time too. Big Vote.
