I was at a bar in the Philippines when someone
requested the house band play this song. It was kind
of surprising, and it brought back memories...
"I realize the best part of love, is the thinnest slice,
and it don't count for much, but I'm not letting go,
I believe there's still much to believe in..."
-Air Supply, "Lost In Love" 1980
Note: Air Supply...wow man, what can I say?
Perhaps the greatest cornball band of all time!!
I had a debate one time with a friend on the merits
of Air Supply. My friend said Air Supply had no musical
depth, and contributed nothing to popular music.
I said, what you don't know is Air Supply's music
is loved worldwide, and I know firsthand that they
are beloved in the Southeast Asian countries. Their
music, while truly syrupy, brings back a lot of good memories
to the folks who love this music. Memories of time, place,
and yes, memories of love. That, to me, is just as important
as any technical qualities the music might have.
And don't forget, Mr. Clive Davis
signed them!!! Clive Davis is a God in the music industry,
and a man of whom I have the utmost respect for. If Clive Davis
signs you, you are solid gold!
