You couldn't get any funkier than having a "Funk U Man" for
your wicked Wednesday :-)
And you could barely get more old school digital than the classic Nikon D1.
The D1 was a 2.7mp DSLR introduced in 1999. It was Nikon's first homegrown camera built
from the ground up to be a "digital" slr, and not just some film camera attached to a digital back
as they tried with previous models.
The D1 rocked the world when it was introduced. Even at $5000, it was considered a bargain
especially compared to the few competing cameras available, some costing up to $30,000 at that time.
And it was better than nearly all the competition back then.
I remember reading dpreview.com and stevesdigicam.com, and just drooling over
the D1. That was in 1999. I shudder to think that I spent $900 in 2004 for a used one and I
thought it was a bargain. Eventually sold it. Finally, this last one cost me all of $75 bucks :-)
I'll have more on the D1 and its capabilities in future installments, but for now I leave you with
this nutty shot! Part of the fun of digital photography is the ability to "funk up" your shots with
post-processing, and I screwed up, I had no idea what I did to "funk up" the photo to this extent :-)
