While walking around town, I passed by this apartment complex,
"The Brevoort" and realized this was holy ground.
You see, this place was the last residence of Rock 'N Roll legend and pioneer,
the man from Lubbock, Texas, Mr. Buddy Holly.
I was amazed when I thought that in this building, there once lived a man whose
music inspired the Beatles, Springsteen, The Rolling Stones, Clapton, and countless
other musicians. He came before all of them...Wow.
In addition to being a Rock legend, I think Buddy Holly should also be given recognition
as the first "Geek Chic" icon. I mean, here's a guy who really looked like a geek, but man,
did he turn the world upside down with his music.
Today, everyone's a "geek" but Buddy was truly one of the first cool geeks out there.
And this was in the 1950's! Mad respect for Buddy Holly!
I well recall that day....no one could believe it..they were all big at the time but Buddy would have kept growing and God knows what music we would have today.....thanks for the excellent pic....I didn't know Buddy had come to NY....vote Not Fade Away....
