My attention was diverted for only a short time
when I turned to find Zoe trying to sleep on top
of the bird cage! :)
Note: The shot was taken with the 35mm f/1.8 AF-S DX Nikkor
on the D3 in FX (Full-Frame) mode. The image was resized
for the web, but otherwise uncropped. Notice the vignetting
at the corners. It's not bad at all, compared to what I've seen
from other lenses. It also depends on the shot, some shots I barely
notice it, and some shots it's more pronounced. This shot has some
extremes, bright light at the top so you don't see the vignetting
as much, and dark shadow areas at the bottom where you do see the
effect quite well.
Not suitable for critical applications, but otherwise fine for shots like this
or when you want a certain 'look.' Remember, this lens is a DX lens, it was never
advertised as an FX lens, though that won't stop us, right? :-)
The D3 has a vignette control function, but it was off for this shot and I've never
tried that function. Nowadays, people are buying software to add this vignetting effect.
With this lens on full-frame, you get it for free! :-)
