The trestle spanning the Kishwaukee River was originally built around 1905 for
the Illinois, Iowa & Minnesota Railway Company, but was quickly absorbed into
the Chicago Milwaukee & Gary Railroad. The line, also informally called the
Old Gary Line, was operational from 1905 to 1947 when it was abandoned.
This is a northward view from DeKalb County's Nehring Forest Preserve. Some
of the timber supports were removed as it now serves as a footbridge only.
