A tribute to my father, Evan Wilkes Bell

An on going project of piecing together the Evan W. Bell family history in images and text. Most of the photos here are from my dad's collection of photos, 8mm films and his father's extensive 16mm film collection that dates from 1926 until his death in 1966.

Just rediscovered your wonderful remembrance of things past. What a beautiful tribute. And I just discovered "Comments" where there are Wilkes and Bells I never knew existed. Another Denny Bell (not my brother in Seattle) and a Canadian to boot. [My father was Samuel Dennis Bell Jr, son of Samuel Dennis Bell and Miriam Wilkes Bell, brother to Christy, Philip and baby Evan].

your father is the one helped me get in the nudist lifestyle. I was stressed out at work at a warner robins ga restaurant.i was so stressed out this was in 1994 and addition to my sick brother who died of AIDS virus,so I drove 130 miles from warner robins to BELL'S ACRES.IT WAS ONLY YOUR MOTHER MRS.BELL AND MR.BELL helped me release my stress in to nudist lifestyle. I miss you dad,mr.bell.even thought I'm afro American,blacks are closet nudist.i thank your dad a lot for this nudist lifestyle.my family and girlfriend NEVER be a nudist.mr.bell will be missied.

Every now and then, I log into your wonderful website and reminisce of days gone by. LOL of caputured pic of my three brothers and me with The Three Stooges. Thank you so very much for taking the time to put this all together.

I came across this gallery by accident. While I don't know your family, I do have a fondness for old family photos. These are terrific. I like that you were able to label them. I have a small gallery dedicated to my mom, who is still alive at 88 yrs. Thanks and Wonderful that you are preserving your family history.

Congratulations on one of the best Bell pages I've ever seen. I came across while doing some genealogy research. (I'm the Canadian rep of the Clan Bell}. I've got your branch of the Bell tree traced all the way back to:

Archibald Bell - (born ca. 1590 Arkinholme, Staplegordon, Langholm parish, Dumfries, Scotland died July, 1668 Tannaghmore, County Armagh, Ireland). Married Ann ?. Staplegordon was a burgh in Dumfries,created in 1320, in the time of Alexander III.

If you'd care to take a look at the whole tree I can email it all along. You've got some very illustrious ancestors, including a former prime minister of New Zealand, and tons of prominent Irish and American Quakers.

What a great tribute to Evan who I knew through BARE in N.Georgia he was a very giving person who enjoyed life, it was sad to hear of his and than Polly's passing but i'm sure they left fond memories for their families and those who had the opportunity to know them.

I recently purchased a set of four antique picture frames with pictures that I was told are four Wilkes brothers from PA, circa 1870's (an educated guess of the antique dealer). One picture strongly resembles Henry J. Wilkes, 2nd picture in your gallery. Did any of your Wilkes relatives come from that area?
I live in NJ and purchased the frames/pictures in NJ.

Brother Dan---every time I come here to remember the Family and the good care-free times we had -especially in Stamford--I always find new pictures that I've never seen--this time the pictures of Dad in his army uniform and doing his job---where did you find these??? I didn't have the pleasure of personally meeting Evan, but if he was anything like his daughter, Nancy, or his grandson, Eric, then he was an incredible person! I feel so priveleged to have Eric and Nancy in my life. Thanks goes to Evan for bringing them into the world! I love you two..!!

Dear Evan...I am the daughter of Esther Wilkes Winfield and the granddaughter of Ethel and Warren Wilkes. Aunt Moona (Miriam) was my great Aunt. My Mother lives in Virgina at this time with my sister Esther Ann Winfield Lawicki. We are trying to trace your families and see where everyone is. Since Aunt Moona died we have lost track of the Bell family. My e-mail address is gwilkeswinfield@aol.com.

My Mom is now 95 and Still kicking! She had Aunt Moona's genes and we believe she will be here until 100! my best to you all!

Amber and I met Evan and Polly 12 years ago on vacation. We all became good friends and were able see each other often. He always had a warm smile and a welcome greeting everytime you saw him. He had such a passion for life, love for his family and for his friends. We were all Blessed to have him as a friend.
