Why watch: It's a chance to see the defending Super Bowl champions and
star quarterback Peyton Manning in his first game in Oakland. In
Manning's first trip to the West Coast this season, he threw five
interceptions in San Diego. Even more shocking, clutch kicker Adam
Vinatieri missed a short game-winning field-goal attempt. Maybe the West
Coast voodoo will hit the Colts again.
Rewind: The Colts handled the Raiders 35-14 on Oct. 10, 2004, at the
RCA Dome. Manning threw for just 198 yards but had three touchdown passes.
WHO'S THE MAN?
Kirk Morrison
RAIDERS LINEBACKER
Colts quarterback Peyton Manning's theatrics and audibles at the line
are a trademark. It'll be up to Morrison to make sure the Raiders are in
the right defensive alignment. If Morrison is not on point, the Colts
might score a lot.
RAIDERS
SCOUTING REPORT
The Raiders haven't allowed a sack for two consecutive games. But
don't mistake that for two great games by the offensive line. Coach Lane
Kiffin called last week's effort against Green Bay "average" after
quarterback Josh McCown took several hits and the running game was
ineffective.
JaMarcus Russell's second NFL appearance comes against one of the
fastest defenses in the NFL. Kiffin loves Russell's ability to improvise
and that he took care of the ball in his debut two weeks ago. If Russell
plays well and has the offense rolling, don't be surprised to see him
get more than the two series he got against Denver.
The Raiders' special teams had their worst effort of the season last
week and allowed two touchdowns in the 38-7 loss. The Colts have allowed
three kickoff returns for touchdowns this season, including one last
week at Baltimore.

COLTS
SCOUTING REPORT
Peyton Manning is playing beyond his stellar standards in possibly his
best season, statistics aside. The Colts have had Pro Bowl wide receiver
Marvin Harrison for only five games, and the rest of the offense has
been hit with injuries, but Manning has kept the unit marching.
The loss of Harrison has answered any doubts whether Reggie Wayne was
among the NFL's elite wide receivers. He has followed up last year's Pro
Bowl campaign with another season that likely will earn him a trip to
Hawaii, despite more defenses focusing on him in Harrison's absence.
The Colts' defense is among the NFL's fastest. Indianapolis has 19
interceptions, third in the league. The leading ball hawks are
linebacker Gary Brackett and safety Antoine Bethea with four
interceptions apiece. Though the defense is undersized (two 5-foot-11
linebackers and no linemen weighing more than 300 pounds), it's physical.

MATCHUP TO WATCH
RAIDERS CORNERBACK NNAMDI ASOMUGHA VS. COLTS RECEIVER REGGIE WAYNE
Two of the best at their positions go at it. Wayne plays almost
exclusively on the left side of the Colts' formations. Asomugha rarely
leaves the right side of the Raiders' defense. Peyton Manning won't shy
away from throwing to his favorite target, which should make for some
interesting battles.
