In photoshop, behind the eye dropper tool you will find a rular (measuring tool).
Use that to draw a line that should be perfectly straight.
This can either be a horizontal line such as the background,
or a vertical one such as the stem of the glass.
Once tou have drawn the line, rotate the canvas "arbitrary" and the entire canvas will straighten. You can then crop the image accordingly to exclude the parts that you dont want in the frame.

I came here thanks to your comment on my chilli in a glass ... Glad to see you also like to put odd things in glasses and snap them. This isn't the best image in this gallery, but some of the others are really stunning. Superb work.
