This battery exploded inside one of my flashlights the other day. The flashlight was in my pants cargo pocket at the time. I only received a small burn from it.

I almost had a battery explode in my flash unit last week. It was off and I went to pick it up off the table and it was hot enough I couldn't hold it by the battery compartment area. Got the batteries out probably just in time as they melted through a plastic bag when I dumped them. Lucky your flashlight was in a cargo pocket and not a regular pants pocket!

That's crazy. What causes batteries to explode like that? Glad you weren't hurt. :)
