I was lucky and had a 68 RR as my first car. My second was a 69 GTX. Terrific cars. While newer performance cars are actually much stronger, they still do not have the raw "presence" and hard ambience of the classic old muscle cars.
I was a poor 18 year old college student when these cars were new. The closest I cam to a Road Runner was getting a ride one evening with a guy in a GTX which had the 440 V8 while he accelerated to 'clean out the carbon.' Most young people these days have no clue what power was under the hoods of these old cars. Thanks for sharing!
