• Without a doubt one of the more fascinating trout trip for the anglers, the Spring Creek Trout Trip of 2008 was marked by a prolific terrestrial hatch of the 17 year Cicada, Brood XIV, for the Eastern US.
• Natural insects filled our riverside with a deafening rhythmic buzz that would forever remain as music to anglers' ears! The occurrence of these cicadas could only mean one thing: hungry aggressive trout that strike at a huge dry fly about the size of a Kennedy half dollar. The last time these cicadas appeared was in 1991.
• We hooked up with dozens of brown trout and landed many. Another trip of a lifetime! Expect these cicadas to return in 2025!
• Just look at those huge flies and colorful naturals!
• Spring Creek, at State College, PA is a prolific limestone river with a very rich aquatic biomass that could only mean fat, healthy trout.

This is what it is all about - getting out away from the office away from traffic away from the television set and having fun - enjoying nature and doing some fishing with a few friends.
Thanks for sharing. I am a trout fisherman too - but fish mostly in Canada - my father fly fishes in Pennsylavania and I have fished there too. Great spot!
