Patrick O'Brien's Foundation

•• Patrick O'Brien, son of fellow angler Kennedy O'Brien, was diagnosed with a degenerative neurologic, and ultimately fatal illness - ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) , more commonly known as Lou Gehrig's disease.

Patrick is a talented and creative artist in film, video, and on the internet. He has set up a 100 mile motorized wheelchair journey across New Jersey to raise awareness and funds for ALS. It will take him almost a week to complete this Trans-Jersey Expedition.

•• Patrick is making a documentary film about himself as he approaches the last years of his life.

•• Please see the website for Patrick's foundation that was established recently. The anglers will be setting aside funds for a contribution to Patrick's foundation. But if you wish to donate individually, please do so at the website listed below.

•• We were with Patrick at one of the foundation's benefit held at the White Rabbit, in downtown Manhattan. All contributions, big and small, are appreciated.

Dear Ricky,

Thank you for attending the benefit last week. The event exceeded all of our expectations and you are one of the hippest friends of my Dad I have met. It was great to meet your lovely wife Mel as well and I'm glad everyone could get together and finally meet as well as have a good time in the process. Thank you for making this webpage and for your continued support of the foundation. Thanks also to all the anglers who came out and supported the event: Dave, John, Jerry and Rich.
