Mostly Outer Space: Meteorites

Welcome to the Meteorites gallery. These space rocks are as old as our solar system (4.5+ billion years old!) and what a joy to hold one of these special rocks! Their beauty can be easily seen and appreciated on the microscopic level; the Irons show their inclusions and Widmanstätten patterns and Neumann lines are seen in acid etched iron meteorite polished faces. Chondrites and Achondrites, or Sony Meteorites genrally have their fine chondrules. Pallasites/Mesodsiderites, or stony irons have glorious crystals of olivines embedded in a matrix of Nickel-Iron or flecks of iron embedded in a stony matrix. The Universe could not give us more beautiful gifts. These special space rocks provide clues to the origin of our solar system.
I will be adding more photos of my specimens in a few months.
