• Tokyo's Shinjuku Station is the Japan's busiest terminal and typical of modern Tokyo where workers commute for 90 minutes each way for work. There are many fast food joints near the terminal which serves great food for a few dollars.
• Hakone, in the center of the Mt Fuji-Izu national park and a 2 hour train ride away from Tokyo, is a resort town known for their onsen (natural hot springs) and ryokan (traditional Japanese inn) from the Edo period (1603 to 1868) as stops for travelers.
• Ryokan visitors are given the traditional welcome, slippers, yukata (robes) and will dine kaiseki style where many small dishes are prepared by the Itamae (cook) highlighting the seasonal goods and presented for enjoyment of taste, texture, all aesthetically served on small plates. Our ryokan is one of the few remaining old Japanese style all wooden inns.
• Imagine soaking in an ofuro (tub) filled with hot onsen water and then in your yukata, served a kaiseki meal by the nakaisan in your own room.
