February 3rd, 2003 --  This Chinese ZPMC ship is the same company and type of ship that brought the huge fully assembled container cranes to the Port of Oakland in 2002.

February 3rd, 2003 -- Here you can see that two deck sections have been lifted from the ship and are hanging from the bridge's suspension cables.  Protective covers, seen on the six sections yet to be unloaded, are removed prior to the lift.

February 19, 2003 -- Here's the progress a couple of weeks later.  The partially unloaded ship has been moved to the safety of San Pablo Bay  while bridge workers adjust and secure the deck sections that have been lifted into place.

February 19, 2003 -- Here's a closer look.  Notice that there are two mobile cranes that were on the deck sections when they were lifted from the ship.  There are still two winch lifting mechanisms on the north end of the deck.  A third one has just been lowered to the barge with the tug.
