I took these photographs during a Dallas Zoo Photo Safari. The Safari, lead by Zoo staff photographer Cathy Burkey, offers participants the opportunity to photograph zoo animals with assistance from the keeprs. Ms. Brukey coordinates the Safari's itinerary with the keepers, enabling the keepers to substantially improve the opportunities for good photos. For example, some of the animals entered the exhibit area for the first time that day only after the Safari arrived. Since the animals feed immediately after their initial release, the Safari photographers could photograph them as they searched for and consumed food.
