This picture was taken from atop a high hill of silt & debris which was the remnants of the tip of the glacier, which dropped a LOT of dirt before receding. In 1930 the Vatnajokull glacier, reached the bridge over the highway. Today it is 5 km from the highway and receding 100 m per year. The amphibious boats leave every 30minutes full of ant people.
