The tenth annual Lesser Prairie Chicken Festival was held in Milnesand, NM, from
Friday April 15 through Sunday April 17, 2011. You can find some information about the 2010 festival at
the NM Game and Fish web site. Registrations usually fill up many months in advance of the festival, since
participation is limited to the first 100 applicants.
The photographs here are a small sampling of Prairie Chickens as they parade around their
mating leks early each morning, as well as a sampling of some other birds common in the eastern NM prairie at this time of year.
