Map of Cruise Cities

This is a map showing the route taken on the cruise. Sections of the path
that are colored red were taken during daytime, and nighttime sections are colored blue.

On the first day, we started in Ketchikan, sailed at dusk, heading for Misty Fjords.

On the second day we visited Misty Fjords and then we traveled to Metlakatla,
saw some Tsimpshean Indian dancers and local artisans.

On the third day, we sailed to Petersburg, saw the Sons of Norway dancers, and took an
afternoon nature hike. We sailed in the afternoon toward Frederick Sound, where saw a
large number of humpback whales bubble feeding.

On the fourth day we visited Tracy Arm and the South Sawyer Glacier. In the afternoon,
we started heading in the general direction of Sitka, cruising back through Frederick
Sound. There we saw a large pod of resident Orca until dark.

On the fifth day we arrived in Sitka in the early morning and took a Kayaking trip
in the local breakwaters. We saw bald eagles, and a pair of sea lions attacking salmon.
In the afternoon we visited the Sitka National Historical Park, a forested area with
many totem poles. Leaving Sitka, we traveled toward Glacier Bay in the evening.

The sixth day was spent visiting Glacier Bay, where we saw Margerie glacier and
Johns Hopkins glacier, several brown bears, sea lions, otters, a mountain goat, and
a great variety of birds.

The seventh day we visited Skagway and Haines. Skagway is for tourists. We took a
photo-oriented excursion in Haines in the Chilkat Valley, where we saw stands of fireweed,
bald eagles, bears and a fisherman....

We arrived in Juneau on the morning of the eighth day, visited Mendenhall glacier,
and spent the night. We returned home the next day.
