We took a short trip to Texas, and stopped off at the Attwater Prairie Chicken National Wildlife Refuge
on Saturday October 1. You don't actually see the Attwater Prairie Chickens, but this is one of the few
remaining habitats for this subspecies of the Greater Prairie Chicken in the US. It has been exceptionally dry this year
in Texas, and so the portions of this refuge that were intended to be wetlands were mostly dry. We were pleased to see
some juvenile Northern Harriers, Crested Caracara, Loggerhead Shrikes, and a Nashville Warbler, among others.
