paris

to take photographs means to recognise - simultaneously and within a fraction of a second -

both the fact itself and the rigorous organisation of visually perceived forms that give it meaning.

it is putting one's head, one's eye and one's heart on the same axis.

I tried to comment on the first pic but it was protected, so I'll say how perfect it is - and what an extraordinary moment you caught the fixed gaze of the advert at.. I love this whole gallery. I was in Paris for only 24 hours last October and it was one of the best times of my vacation..

Wonderfully refeshing gallery. I though that a photographer cannot shed new light on such a photographed location as Paris, but you've managed to pull it off quite well. Excellent work. Well done!

Ruthie, I'm in awe of your work here! What I find in this pictures is the vision of a gifted soul that show all of us an extraordinary world, a world that is generally hidden for the rest of the people. Please, keep showing us where we can find magic!! Congratulations. Marisa

Yup, can't argue - very creative gallery and a nice "take" on otherwise the standard touristy stuff that you see mostly elsewhere. certainly a better job than I managed!

My hobby is photography and my equipment is only a simple compact digital camera. I'd like to improve my skills to earn extra money. Comments (good or bad but hopefully good), tips & suggestions from professional photographers, amateurs, & guests are very much appreciated. My trial period will end any moment so please email me at jakemontero@hotmail.com http://www.pbase.com/bucari Ruth, many thanks for the space. Your pictures are my inspiration. bucari

Ruth: Thanks for your comments in my Paris Gallery at www.pbase.com/wembley I wish I had more time there (2 days) because the opportunity for candids is remarkable. Your Louvre and Metro picture are great graphic representations of the fantastic city. Well Done.

Wow, what a gallery this is! Definitely the most creative Paris gallery I have seen sofar. You really have a magnificent eye and a feeling for the dramatic. I'll be visiting again. And again! Thanks for your inspiration.

Hello Ruth: You have captured the very essence of Paris. Each photograph speaks of passion.

Phil Douglis 27-May-2005 17:06
This is becoming one of the most thought provoking galleries of travel images I have ever seen. You keep adding new ones -- it is almost as if you were hesitant at first to speak until you knew that you were being heard --and now your voice becomes louder and clearer and more provocative with each new image. Jen is right, Ruthie. And she knows whereof she speaks.

Jim Chiesa 26-May-2005 05:05
Ruth, this gallery is very creative. A different approach to Paris, "la plus belle capitale du monde" ! It takes a careful eye to achieve these kind of images to avoid falling into the stereotype cliché. Well done !! I look forward to seeing the upcoming shots ! Best Wishes Jim

Oh Ruth, your pictures of Paris amazed me, shocked me and made my heart beat SO fast! I can't believe you only been in photography less a year and you already make such powerful images~ You are totally a photo genius! Ruth, please please don't ever stop, you have so much in you and you are able to speak that out laud to the world, and make the world understand, in your own voice, the most beautiful voice..And please know I am always here to listen.... Jen

This is an excellent urban gallery. Avoids or inverts cliches. Hints to show you where you are, yet original views. Hope there's more to come.

Guest 25-May-2005 11:33
this gallery is wonderful and shows paris in a way like ive never seen. very fresh and unique perspective. the pictures say much more about you, than paris! truly a sign of most great photographers, the images luminate themselves.

Phil Douglis 25-May-2005 06:06
Make that 11 out of 18 expressive images, Ruthie. I had forgotten to count the one that fooled me at first!

Phil Douglis 25-May-2005 04:40
A remarkable gallery, Ruthie. Ten out the 18 images in here express ideas in a fresh and thought provoking way. Which is an astonishing percentage of success for a young photographer in her first few years as a photographer. I have explained why I feel these ten images worked as expression under those pictures. I continue to stand in awe of your very special vision.
