water blessing

wat chana songkhram, bangkok, thailand

a troubled mind generates heat: anger, craving and delusion all taint a worldview with pessimism.
when we are deluded, we lack mindfulness and concentration.
here, a monk throws water over the heads of a group of people in order to extinguish the fire of negativity.

Kal: as per your technical observation, i am living proof that tripods are a waste of metal!

As Kal suggests, the context here is critical to meaning. You concentrate on the intensity of his expression, only suggesting that he is throwing water over the heads of others. But after reading both the title and the caption, we see this image in its fullest sense. It is the story of passion and deliverance, summed up in expression and gesture.

Pin sharp image of him and motion in the hand is pretty exceptional Ruth. I was immediately intrigued by what he was up to. Without your context I would have had no clue, but also without it I would have been forced to think of something. Thought provoking as soon as you see it.
