Replica of the Southern Cross flown by Sir Charles Kingsford-Smith and Charles Ulm who flew the first flight from US to Australia in 1928. 83 hours flying time over 9 days.
This aircraft has Smithy's original Australian aircraft registration of VH-USU
First public flight since a landing mishap in 2002 when one of the main wheel struts fell off just after take off. On landing, the wing was broken approx 3 metres from one end and one of the original Wright Whirlwind was damaged. The three engines were replaced with Jacobs 300hp radials.
