Bush Stone Curlew

Easy prey for introduced feral cats and foxes as they freeze if they think they are in danger. Evades many local predators, including man by doing this. Check out the low shutter speed I could use on this curlew

You sure got close. The eye is magic. This species is common up here where there are no foxes. I think they cope with cats fine.

What an up close and tight shot...the details in the eyes are amazing. I don't know if he can get away with this freezing technique for too long when its predators figures out he is easy prey. v
