Australian International Airshow 2015
The Winjeel was manufactured in Australia by the Commonwealth Aircraft Corporation (CAC) during 1956 & 1957 for use by the RAAF as an initial trainer. Just 62 production aircraft were built and 10 are thought to be in service with various private owners in Australia and New Zealand.
Powered by a 445hp 9 cylinder Pratt & Whitney radial, was used at airfields such as RAAF Base Point Cook and later at East Sale for initial & advanced training. Phased out of service during the mid 70s for the Macchi MB326 twin seat trainer.
