The First of April now having passed by requires that I admit to faking the apparent damage to my lens on yesterday’s PaD. Dan took beautiful care of it, and there are no problems.
For the technically minded, I selected the front part of the lens in Photoshop and then used the liquefy tool to bend the edges. Then after selecting just the glass in front, I pasted in an image of a broken window and used a blend mode (hard light I think) to make it look real.
In real life I stumbled once years ago and my camera fell onto its 28-135 lens which broke a piece of the plastic on the front, but did no apparent harm. Di Barton now has the lens and has used it I believe without problem for over three years.
