The General

Rancho Bernardo, CA

I limbered up my Canon EF 70 -200 L IS lens for a morning shoot at Webb park to capture the day’s festivities. Please take a look at the shots I am posting to this FoJ gallery. I hate to haul that heavy L lens around, but boy it sure does a great job. I'm delighted with the results.

Excellent image for our Independence Day. All I can say is that I am proud to be an American...

I agree with you Robin. The media blows stuff like Paris at us daily....I don't get it but that is totally one sided. The public does not condone or look up to that girl. In fact most are tired of the whole Hollywood thing. Anyway, with that said, this is a great pic! Excellent portrait! Our soldiers are our heros! Happy 4th!!!

@Blind Poet ... I'm not big on our current debacle in Iraq or too much over-emphasis on the military. That said, San Diego is a huge military town (Marines and Navy mostly). This man is a National Guard officer and is therefore a citizen soldier.

Re being free from Mother England... Yes, I think most of us cherish our way of life and wonderful opportunities (for most). Don't let all the press about Paris H. and her crowd mislead you. Day to day life here doesn't make the news, and it is pretty "normal."

Powerful image Robin. well spotted. a story here, a national psyche, provokes disturbing thinking for me. Gotta give it up. Nice colour and comp. Happy Independence day. I hope to experience one one day. Is there still celebration in being free from mother England? Why has America created royalty out of the ridiculous lives of most movie stars and millionaires afetr finding such freedom. (Paris & Co) or is it the rest of world doing that? This is a lovely image. V
