Please no puns about eggs. Just comments about the shot. No Photoshop except for USM and converting background to black.

This is dedicated to Pete (a.k.a. virginiacoastline) who wanted me to take a food picture.

Nice detail, I doubt if it needed sharpened. Now that's using your egg!
Bryan Murahashi31-Jul-2006 15:28
Very nice, sharp shot.

Excellent B&W Robin.

ok, my 1.5 cents. What Cindy said about doing a major levels conversion leaves me with edges like this, and without a clue how to fix them. It drives me NUTS. I would have liked to see only about 1/2 the eggs, taking up a whole corner of the frame, making it almost graphically abstract.

yeah, what pete said.
I like it, and I am a bit jealous that you took a shot for her. I am going to have to think of a shot I want you to take for me. Hmmmmmmmmm...

The black background and the texture of
the shell makes this a winner in my book.

Since everyone is adding their 2 cents, I will chip in too. I think that the white line around the edge from the USM is distracting and makes the egg look 2 dimensional instead of 3 dimensional.

Nice detail...

did I tell you . . . I made deviled eggs today too =)

I LIKE this, BUT (do eggs have butts?) . . going by the new stuff I'm learning in the online class . . . either all of the egg's reflection (or much less of it) needs to be in here. Otherwise my eye doesn't know where to go. Well, MY eye knows eggsactly where to go (sorry . . . hadda do it =) . . . but instructors tell me less is better for S or C shapes or leading lines. . . What does that have to do with eggs . . I have NO idea.
Me . . I like the little sweat beads on the shell =)

No puns! What fun is that!
Well, it is the incredible edible egg~ I like how it looks cold.

Eggs not cook yet, can't be food ;o)I like mine scrambled.
Very good details on the egg shells. I can see where you hold the eggs and the yoke from some other egg. :-)
Pepe Zyman30-Jul-2006 19:45
I agree with Gary. The composition doesn't make any sense.

It's great technically, Robin. I think there's something missing, but I don't know what it could be! maybe a touch of red would be dynamite with this 'pure' composition. Sorry to be vague

PS or not, great composition. V

Is that a Robin's egg ??? No photoshop except for...hmmm.
Gary Winters30-Jul-2006 18:38
Given the rules you've suggested, I'm speechless!

Okay, seriously, the image is crisp but the composition gives me a jittery feeling. I'm not sure if the upper egg is balanced on the lower one, or the lower one is just a reflection.

I like the black background.
James Ross30-Jul-2006 17:58
Good Work! The black background brings the Egg out nicely.

Nice work
