The 70- 300 DO I S Zoomed

Rancho Bernardo Inn

Earlier in the day I posted some 70mm shots using this lens. Here is one taken closer to the long end … 210mm. I think this is a bit softer than the what would be produced by the 70-200 f/2.8 L lens.

Nice candid. The softness could be due to subject movement or any number of things. I wouldn't throw out the lens in any case. Sharpness isn't everything it's cracked up to be--particularly when it comes to portraits. :)

I have no idea . .softer, not softer . . I have NO idea what lenses do

It does look a little soft but that's peerfect for this shot

I'm no lens expert so I'll just say I like the informality of this shot.

That shutter speed should be within range of that lens's IS, so I'd say at 1/60s any softness is more likely to be from the subject moving. I expect she wasn't holding this pose for you.

Oh please don't say that. I have purchased this lens and can no longer return it, but you're right... it isn't the sharpest knife in the drawer

Nice image

Nice portrait with the DO. Maybe its soft because of the shutter speed.

Nice lighting.

Most women would prefer to be shot a little softer. The 70-200 IS is probably Canon's sharpest zoom and hard to beat. The DO is prized for its size.

I love the lighting on this photo.

She reminds me of someone, but I have CRS. That water looks refreshing right now!

Nice shot, but I think she sees you out of the corner of her eye.

There's no subsitute for some lenses. Although 1/60 might be beyond the IS ability. (I dont know) Nice lighting though.
