February 27: Tomato Bush

Rancho Bernardo, CA

We are expecting a considerable amount of much needed rain over the next several days, so I thought I’d get out on my morning walk early again today to capture more astounding ;-) scenes of the flora in my neighborhood.

After discovering yesterday’s radish cactus, I was a bit less surprised to spy this tomato bush!

Nahhhhhhhh.... you're pulling the wool over our heads again, Robin.

Stop speaking about Tomatos or Tomatoes. Christmas berries ( Heteromeles arbutifolia ) just look like Tomatos when you take them on a Makroshot. You better don't eat them, they contain cyanide compounts that can kill you if you eat too many. It will not hurt you to eat a few, but they are not very tasty.

You say Tomato We Say Tomatoe.....I won't be eating any of these Robin.

Nicely shot of all this colorful fruit.

Robin,

It looks as though you are starting a body of work on vegetables (and fruits).

I've never seen a tomato plant that looked like this.

Is it just me or does this not look like ANY tomatoe plant I've ever seen? Nice reds, though ;-)

Nice shootin'.
What do you think? Will you be starting a garden soon?

Interesting berries...but perhaps NOT the eating kind.

I should get one of these, put it in my sun room, my sturff in the green house froze last year and just never took off, we had maybe 10-15 Tomatos. Nice Dof.

You're so lucky having all these interesting fruits growing outdoors.

Wow, I don't think we'll see tomatoes growing outside for another several months over here.
