July 15: SP Friday – My View

Colorado Springs, CO

I find myself frequently looking out of my hotel window at this view of Pikes Peak. In the mornings it is invariably cloud-free, and by late afternoon the high cumulus clouds being to gather promising a bit of rain and maybe even a thundershower.

Growing up I learned to tell right from left by facing this mountain which towers 8078 ft. (2462 m.) above Colorado Springs. My Mother used to say that it never looks the same. There is a lot of truth in that; the mountain has many personalities. It is the symbol of this region and dominates the skyline from almost any point in the City.

Beautiful view... spoiled only by the car park.

Not quite sure how this helps one learn left from right, but it's still quite a view!

Great view!

I think someone just suggested you climb it! :o)

@Karen... the window view was one shot, the pix of me was a second. Not usre why the right pane is darker.

What a view for a SP Robin.

Interesting shot Robin. Wondering if you took the window shot at 2 different times. The right hand pane looks a little darker than the left pane. Could be cloud cover tho.

Nice sp and wonderful view!

Pikes Peak is truly majestic the way it towers over the surrounding hills. I, too, have grown up with this view and it signifies that I'm only an hour from home. I can see it from the windows of the hospital. This is a very thoughtful and creative SP...I rather like it ;-)

@Virigniacoastline ... believe it or not Pete I have climbed that mountain! Not this trip though. I'll leave that to others. I will go up by car or cog though!

have you hiked the Pike or are you just peeking at the Peak?

Nice memories

Oh yes great memories!!! and you have such a great view from this window.

Now, as I can see, for doing this nice "SP" has been a good "PS" job.
Good one now I`m going to think about mine for today!!

I like the pocket treatment!
the clone of yourself could be a little softer to blend the edges.
Nice work.

Very nice shot here, Robin. Love the logo on your pocket. But judging from your haircut, this is a bit of a composite image, no? This tells me you might not yet know about the new merge to HDR in PSCS2?

Purple mountains majesty.....it really is. Who said "you can't go home again"--that silly Thomas Hardy.

We camp at Mueller state park. Sites 1-5 have views of Pike's Peak.
One of my favorite places in the world.

Great job, Robin. I like seeing this view. It must be a real pleasure to have mountains right out of your window.

Cheater! I thought at first you were up awfully early this morning to take a picture and post it. But you do get up early...Then I read "in the mornings it is invariably cloud-free" and thought then how come the clouds? Ah! You're exif damns you, though you helped. Colorado has gorgeous scenery in the mountains.
