July 8: Two Churches

Colorado Springs, CO

Shove Chapel at Colorado College is on the left, and St. Mary's Catholic on the right.

I attended many Baccalaureate and "compulsory" chapel services at Shove during my College years. In 1979 Ellen and I chose it as the place to marry.

As a kid, St. Mary's was our favorite place to go to Mass, because one of the Priests was a chain smoker, and we could count on a very short sermon and a rapid recitation of the ritual. ;-)

In the 5th and 6th grades I was an altar boy at Corpus Christi (not pictured) in the north of town. (No I was never molested.)

Nice church shots Robin. I decided to get the 10-22 instead of the 17-40 -- due to arrive on Tuesday. Look out for wide shots from me.

Two very lovely churches, Robin. An altar boy...hmmm...I'm smiling at the mental picture of the young Robin.

Nice shots. Based on the nice skies, is it safe to assume that lightning didn't strike when you got near? :-) Glad to see you're enjoying the visits to your old stomping grounds.

Good lookin' churches! Sad that one has to add, "No, i wasn't molested" in commentaries these days. But perhaps things are getting better?

Beautiful photos, Robin. And, I am enjoying your "somewhere in time" narratives very much.

Beautiful buildings and memories.
If I understand all right, the "altar boy" is the one who is helping the priest during the Mass? if it is I used to be too also I used to play guitar at the chorus for many years. And all I have is such a great memories of very good friends, like "Padre Copto" who is in my pad from March 13th in the photos when I got married with Lily my wife:
