July 16: “I felt the earth move under my feet”

Rancho Bernardo, CA

Southern California experienced another moderate earthquake again this afternoon. But this line of giant earthmovers adjacent to Interstate 15 on the way home is more about the traffic delays the typically double the time for the commute home.

I was down at Marina Village for the third day of Tom’s workshop, and I’m worn down to a nubbin. So this is a quick post. I’ll do some of my commenting tomorrow.

It's amazing how you Californians can just brush it off. If a passing bus rattles windows here it's headline news!

Just the thought of an earthquake is scary. The nearest I've been to one is a simulation in the Science Museum here and that was bad enough.

Cool angle for this shot, Robin.
What's the patch of blue on the lower left corner?

ground shaking shot!

I felt that quake pretty strongly at work today. It shook us up good and lasted about 10 seconds. Not pleasant at all. Then, I was trying to call my wife, and every time I called, I got a different person's voice mail. Like ten times in a row. I was using speed dial, so it wasn't misdialing. That freaked me out even more.

Earthquakes? I can only image...I get scared when these things come around. :-)

that was supposed to read "A-N-Y" appendages. Oy

A nubbin, eh? I haven't heard that word used in years. Great word. Nice caterpillars. I hope Tom didn't ridicule and appendages today?

I hear it was 5.5...big enough for me to want to stay out of tall building areas. Those tall " gum " trees make big noises when they crash too :>) Stay safe.

I've only felt one of the recent earthquakes. I'm not too worried about the Big One coming any time soon. (Famous last words?) Nice shot, particularly if taken from your car.

We've been keeping track of your area--shaky ground to say the least. Rest up for tomorrow.

Rest up, Robin. I know how wearing that type of thing is. Keep safe during those tremors.
