April 21: People I Really Appreciate

My Back Yard

This “bottle brush” bush grows with enthusiasm in my back yard. In fact lots of things boom and bloom this time of the year; not all of them welcome.

So today in addition to this image (note the long lens!) I honor Frank (pictured here) who has been my gardener for at least 15 years. Week in and week out he does a quality of job of caring for my yard.

P.S. I’ve never been much of a yard man. Gave it up one Lent back in Iowa and never picked up the habit again. ;-)

Beautiful, and definitely looks exactly like a bottle brush. Are you sure your gardener isn't just putting his old, discarded bottle brushes in the bushes, making them look perfect? ;-)

nicely composed.

You've had the same gardener longer than i was married. Hmmmm...what's your secret???

Don't know that I've ever seen anything like this, at first glance I thought it was leftover Christmas garland. Very nice. Does Frank do long distance work :)

I;ve always been a fan of the bottle brush but they are difficult to photograph I think. You did a grand job of it here.

Nice to see a good Aussie native Callistamon doing so well....though i know many of our plants do well in CA & Fl. Great photo, Robin.

Great shot--really does look like a bottle brush! My tree in Montz is gorgeous today and I almost used it as a PaD.

15 years with the same gardener? He must be very good or you have a lot of patience.

I love these, we have one too, but it's way to early for the flowers! Lovely shot!

My mistake, click on the bolded "Frank who has been my gardener" and you'll see him.

Now all we need is a portrait of Frank!
Beautiful macro.

Great shot. It's a lovely plant. My neighbour has one and I keep meaning to sneak a cutting as I've never seen one for sale.
