We motored into some further reaches of the outback last night for a visit to a 450,000 square acres cattle station. They can only run about 5000 head of cattle in that vast space, but are able to do it with just a handful of people.
It was quite beautiful there, and I’ve posted a stitched image in the Australia Gallery.
After dinner (roast beef of course) we had a lecture by an astronomer on the southern skies. It was totally clear of clouds and pitch black. The Milky Way and other stars shimmered above us. I was especially pleased to see the Southern Cross for the first time.
PaD Day #365! One left, because I missed a day when we cross the International Date Line!
