December 22: California Quail (Callipepla Californica) and Jack (Boxus Jackus)

Ranch Bernardo, CA

In season I often see a bevy of California Quail tip-toeing around my backyard.
In order to keep up with some of the great bird images I’ve seen here, I humbly submit this quite unusual catch.

Canon EOS 20D ,Sigma 50mm f/2.8 EX Macro
1/30s f/6.3 at 50.0mm iso400 with Flash full exif

other sizes: small medium large original auto

This is, um, quite the image robin. I find myself more curious about what you erased! On the east coast we would call this a snow bird I think.

Fun image. It has been nice getting to know you through your photographs and humour. Have a great Christmas and an even better 2005.

Oh Robin I can well imagine the sheer techical details of working out a plan to get close enough to these amazing birds without alerting their razor sharp instincts in order to produce a photograph of superior quality as you have here today.

Ya, Ya, I also remember hunting for Snipes in Boy Scouts, LOL! You are too much. Love the creative idea.

Robin, I am speechless. How do you come up with ideas like this?
Pepe Zyman22-Dec-2004 23:08

I love Jack-in-the-Box! I live in NJ so Jacks are hard to find. My millenium-Jack is showing his age, especially after 4 winters in New Jersey.
Thanks for the smile.
Cheers,
JenFu
