July 14: On Final into San Diego

San Diego, CA

I’m back to the sunshine after my rather cloudy and rainy trip to New England. This view is from seat 3A of my Delta flight as we crossed the middle marker.
Yes, Virginia, that is downtown San Diego looming very nearby. Many consider this to be one of the most dramatic airline approaches in the United States. Note that this was a wide angle ... not a zoomed shot!!!!

I’m glad to be home.

Awesome work for shooting through the plane window, lots to see and absorb here. I love the inclusion of the other plane coming in.

Pretty impressive. Not as impressive as the southern approach into Lisbon airport though. You can see in my office window from the aeroplane!

WOW, one of the best "from a plane" shots I've seen...watch out to the left!

At just about this point my hands clutch the armrest and my foot gently taps the brakes. With my eyes closed. Would never be able to see this kind of scenery. Just as happy to see it on the monitor. Glad you're home; thanks for leaving the weather :)

Welcome home, Robin! I didn't know they allowed digital cameras on flights these days. Yes, you're adopted hometown is gorgeous.

Yes, Mark, you old eagle-eye you. I did add the other aircraft just to put some movement into the image. Otherwise, everthing is "real."

Very dramatic landing shot. Did you add that other plane?

But I bet it was never as dramatic as the old Hong kong Airport! I actually stayed at the Best Western in 2000 which I believe is somewhere to the right of this view - quite near the runway end and just a little distance away from the tram - near a gas station.

This is a terrific photo, Robin. I bet you are happy to be in your own bed and house again.

I'm glad you're safely home also, Robin. I flew into this airport in October and must admit I was a little nervous.
