Throwback Thursday - 1949 - Paperboy and his Father
I started as a paperboy for the Denver Post and then changed to the Colorado Springs Gazette Telegraph in 1949 and worked that job for 3 1/2 years.
Dad, who literally had to use fisticuffs to defend his downtown turf as a newsboy “back in the day,” had helped me to get a bicycle route along Wood and Cascade avenues which were the nicest part of town.
I learned to be responsible and dependable. And, I made a good deal of money from wages and tips. And, thus at an early age (12) I learned how to spend it. ;-)
