C - 47

McMinville, OR

Have you ever flown in one of these? The civilian version was DC-3, the first “modern’ airliner back in the late 1930's. The livery on this war bird identifies it as an aircraft which flew in the D Day landings in 1944.

I rode on a commercial DC-3 several times in the 1960’s. Many are still in service around the world today!

Never flew one, but have seen many of them in action. For some reason, seeing these DC-3 C-47 aircraft always takes me to the stories of aviation by Ernest Gann in Fate Is The Hunter.

Yes, I flew several times in one of these in the 1950's. Thought they were the cats meow.

Yes, I few in one from the Isle of Man to Blackpool, England, being a flight of about 30 minutes. This was back in 1967.

We made the outward flight on a pressurised, turboprop HP Herald and the later flight on the Dakota was an eye-opener!
