Reflection on Aging

Rancho Bernardo, CA

I must confess that I don’t really like getting older. Most of my life it didn’t make much difference … in fact when I was a youth I wanted to be more mature, more accepted.

Now I find myself much more aware of my mortality and am learning to accept it (but not easily). Jane Fonda referred to her life in three acts: 0-30, 31-60, and 61-90. Each is a clear phase and each has its rewards and challenges.

So, as a village elder I have some advice for all you young whipper-snappers out there: “Age Happens – Accept It.”

I respectfully disagree w/ CS . . you do look a day over thirty, but I'd have never put you at your current chronological age. I thought you were much closer to me, just entering that third chapter =)
Guess I need to start looking for a facepage for my new chapter. Middle one ends soon . . . more adventure around the corner =)))

Oh dear. I'm in her third act and I didn't even notice Act two passing by.
You are looking great, hope you have a fabulous birthday.

OK, so at age 54 I'm headed for the end of stage two, I would not want to go back but if it could be, I'd do things a lot different. THis is want I'm trying to teach my children. Best of luck to you, I think you are like a bottle of fine wine, getting better as it ages...............................

Happy birthday, Robin....I'll add to your advise to the youngsters out there...."Enjoy it!" I am. And getting older does not mean getting old......at least not in my, or your vocabulary. You are a young man, Robin!

Happy Birthday, Robin. It not when you age, but how you age and you still think young!

Well an early Happy Birthday to you, Robin.

In my mind 72 is NOT old at all... I am only about 115 months behind you.
But, I imagine if I spent a lot of time around college aged kids I might feel a bit more weathered than I do.
