Shooting Tethered to the computer

Rancho Bernardo, CA

Inspired by the equipment in my Palomar studio, today I bought an umbrella and a stand which allow me to use my Canon Speedlight 580 as a poor man’s lighting system. Also using the “live view” feature in Canon cameras, I tethered the camera to my laptop, and I could see “the shot” here on my screen before I triggered the shutter in the EOS software. What a hoot!

Now the harder part … learning where to set the lights and how to set the exposures. And it might be nice if I can find a model other than myself. Maybe my buffalo would be interested. ;-)

Cheers. I hope you all have a great weekend.

You are making a big judgement there Kenneth, and I resent it. I knew what I was doing. FYI I wanted to try the tethering with the 40D after spending a lot of time with the Mark II. You might try appreciating the work instead of jumping to conclusions.
