High ISO

Rancho Bernardo, CA

This was quick hand-held test of high ISO on the new Canon 5D Mark II. And it is a big of a disappointment. I know at 128,000 I pushed the exposure by seven stops which was huge. But there was more noise than I like. Higher than that there is a great deal of banding. Yesterday's shot at 500 ISO is very acceptable.

On the left half is the original image. On the right half I applied Imagenomic’s Noiseware.

Surprising, with the plain old 5D the hight ISO is almost flawless but that is just at 1600 or so. Tell me more about Imagenomic’s Noiseware, is it as good as Noise Ninga?

I agree that is dissapointing. Try a test at different iso's starting at 800 and lets look at that.

When did it snow in half of Rancho Bernardo?

Yeah, I see the noise but when will you really use that high of an ISO? I find my XSi does great even at 1600 ISO with very little noise.

on the left the noise is very clearly visible . . but it definitely showcases the noise reduction of Imagenomic’s Noiseware . . but the reduction of noise also takes away detail in the trees
